Profile of College

C.Kandaswami Naidu College for women is one of the oldest educational institutions in Cuddalore, in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Our benevolent founder Thiru. Condavru Kandaswami Naidu karu bequeathed and entrusted the residue of his vast estate to the charities of Pachaiyappa’s Trust directing the Board of Trustees to utilize the amount for maintenance and development of the institution.

The Board was empowered for making any endowment with official trustee as the executor of the will Dr.A.Venugopal,M.S.,FRCS., then President of the Trust Board of Pachaiyappa’s Charities, resolved on 25th April-1967 to create an endowment by starting two colleges in the name of testator, one for Men at Chennai and other for Women at Cuddalore from the academic year 1967-1968.

C.Kandaswami Naidu College for women, Cuddalore began to function at Cuddalore from 15.07.1967, with three batches in the pre University Class. Initially the College was located in the Western half of the municipal school Building with certain improvements. To start with the University has granted affiliation for B.A degree course in Economics and Tamil.

The construction of the building for the College at Semmandalam was completed in one year and it was shifted to the new building on 04.10.1968. Additionally, it was the first women’s college in Cuddalore district. The College was affiliated to Madras University and currently affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore. The College provides teaching facilities, recreational and sporting facilities to enable each of its student to realise as much as possible of her academic and personal potential whilst studying here.
